Our Story

Two people with Keratoconus, who wear scleral lenses daily, researching and making products to help — starting with Scleral Life

Jeff's Story

"I don't see well, but I see you."

That's not just my saying — it's the reason EyesLife exists. I have Keratoconus and scleral lenses gave me my life back. Not just clearer vision, but the freedom to live fully.

Scleral lenses are also a lifestyle — a daily routine that most people around you will never understand. Whether it's the extra time in the morning to insert them or always needing to carry a plunger and saline, the struggle is real. And yet, these tiny pieces of plastic are my miracle.

This tension pushed me to learn everything about custom contact lenses. I started by reading industry journals and now regularly attend eye care conferences — connecting with doctors from all over the world and learning about the latest in lens technology. This knowledge has helped me design products that make the Scleral Life less stressful.

EyesLife was born from my own eye journey and my belief that when you see well, life else gets easier.

Who We Are

Alec's Story

"I want you to know that sometimes the end of the road turns out to be the beginning."

Hey there - I’m Alec! I’m an engineer and maker in the Pacific Northwest, and for most of my adult life I was quietly losing a battle with my own eyes to Keratoconus.

For eleven years I tried many lenses (glasses, hard contacts, sclerals) to make my headaches go away. Then Dr. Seif introduced me to HOA scleral lenses, and something shifted. Colors came back. Text became clear again. It felt like exhaling after holding my breath for a very long time.

This experience sent me to my workbench. I started designing small tools to solve my daily lens frustrations. Today, TinkerTurtle products  have reached customers in over a dozen countries, at every stage of their lens journey.  I’m truly humbled every time I pack an order headed to a new place on the map.

I’m sharing this because I know I’m not the only one who’s been there — and I want you to know that sometimes the end of the road turns out to be the beginning.

Everything I make is my small way of saying: I see you, I’ve been there, and I’m really glad you found your way here.
